Pronunciation: fort cr-eep-t
What began as a simple dwarven fortress has expanded over the centuries to envelope the entire mountain on which it stands. Nowadays the fortress is now a sprawling ‘megalopolis’ that encompasses not only the mountain range on which it stands, but much of the space under the mountains as well.
The running of the city is officially in the hands of six dwarven merchant princes who preside over a section of the Fort in addition to their entrepreneurial pursuits. The strong mercantile bent means that there is a massive divide between the rich and the poor, which critics say expands each time the sun rises and falls.
Mining and metalworks are the most notable primary industries of the area.
